When you book an artisan, your payment is held securely in an independent client escrow account powered by our FCA-regulated partner Modulr. The artisan does not receive the funds until you inspect and approve the completed job. This gives you peace of mind that the work will be completed to a professional standard before any money changes hands.

If the completed work does not match agreed specifications, do not sign off on the escrow release. Instead, click 'Report an Issue' in your dashboard. Both you and the artisan can upload photos and notes. If you cannot reach an agreement directly, our UK dispute resolution team reviews the case and mediates within 48 hours.

Yes. Every artisan must provide verified proof of Public Liability Insurance (minimum £1,000,000 policy coverage) before they can accept bookings. Artisans carrying DBS badges have had criminal record checks verified, and Gas Safe / NICEIC registrations are validated against regulatory registers.

Cancellations more than 24 hours before the scheduled booking time receive an immediate 100% refund of all escrowed funds. Cancellations within 24 hours may be subject to a standard callout deposit to compensate the artisan for reserved scheduling time.

For customers, booking an artisan is free with a nominal £3.50 booking safeguard fee covering payment processing and dispute insurance. For artisans, we deduct a competitive 8% platform fee only upon successful escrow release.

Yes — Stethiano serves major metropolitan areas across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Coverage is densest in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast.
